about

«COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PEOPLE AND BETWEEN PEOPLE AND THE WORLD, this is hearing.
I often put in my works the sound of the world around me, or try to make the illusion of put the listener in a strange place...I never realized how important and what privilege is.»

"(fade in) your mom's voice - your boyfriend ring the door - your grandpa tell you a million time listened story in the dialect of your country - laughing with your friends - balm cricket on a summer night - a lesson of your best school teacher - (fade out)"

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

I'm a structural engineer from Italy with the passion for making music, experimenting the possibilities of the biggest range of genres and melting them together.

ABOUT THE TRACK:

In these pieces (part of a series of Haikus) I tried to use the structure of the japanese poetical (17 syllables in 3 verses of 5+7+5 ) form and the japanese musical scale to create musical poems with the same atmosphere. In particular I focused on the relationship between the sounds and the silence around them, a sort of perturbation of the void (very Zen!).
In any case I want to create the most wide range of experience to the listener, so I used two different scent for orchestration; in Haiku n.2 we are in Bali, and a Gamelan orchestra is playing in a concert hall; while in Haiku n.10 we are in a japanese temple and there are few musician in a more dark atmosphere. If you listen the pieces with headphones and close your eyes the spatialization is pretty good.
Naturally I couldn't use real instrumentation and players, all the instruments are played via MIDI (by my imaginary orchestra, "the Midi Messengers") using the GarageBand software.
