Alexander Cutteridge - Tapestrized

from How to catch STILLE? by AN MOKU & Various Artists

backstage exclusive

about

«Noise pollution seems to be an ever increasing menace, relish silentness where you can. Be aware to the causes and symptoms of hearing loss.»

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Alexander Cutteridge was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1990 and is currently studying for a Masters in Composition at the Reid School of Music, University of Edinburgh. Growing up on a diet of prog-rock and Beethoven, his musical “vanishing-point” now lies behind the broad joint horizons of improvised (free) and electronic music. In a world where spontaneity and prefabrication collide the soil is rich, the fruits are ripe, and all are welcome. Gorge yourself to excess, please.

ABOUT THE TRACK:

The work uses material from two improvisations, featuring trumpet and acoustic guitar processed through max/msp. Improvisation can provide fascinating source material for further electro-acoustic composition, the unpredictable nature of performance often yields results that are difficult to attain through conventional methods of composition. Tapestrized seeks to explore differing levels of dynamic interaction, whilst providing a commentary on noise pollution in the (post-)modern age.
